Mason's here!
Wow! What an experience. Mason Thomas was born by ceasarean section (unfortunately my plans to go all natural changed when we found out Mason was breech) on December 20 at 12:01 in the afternoon. He weighed 7 lbs 7.5 ounces. Who would have thought that such a small little person could have such a huge impact on your life in mere seconds. He was perfect, in every way. Beautiful. I wanted to hold him instantly and never let go, but due to my c-section he had to be taken away to the nursery (but not without Justin right near his side, I had a fear of them switching my baby and/or giving him a bottle) and I had to be sewn up and shipped off to recovery. While still in the nursery and me in recovery, they were trying to convince Justin that Mason was hungry and needed a bottle. He told the nurse, "if you give him a bottle my wife will kill me" and with that they were able to bring him to the recovery room where I was able to nurse him for the first time. Talk about instant bonding. What an amazing feeling to have your child so close to you and being able to feel the warmth of his body against mine had such an impact on me. He took right to nursing (the doctor actually called him a "booby monster"). I had to stay in the hospital for three days and on December 23 we were able to go home.
